The winner of the prestigious 2015 Ridler Award, a 1965 Chevrolet Impala named “Imposter,” was captured in these crystal-clear photos by Adam Bateman of Wizards Products. The car was owned by Don and Elma Voth from Abbottsford, B.C., and was radically redesigned by the talented Chip Foose.
The Imposter was a real head-turner at the 2015 Detroit Autorama, with every inch of its sheet metal customized in some way. The car was chopped, shortened, and relocated, with everything from the windshield to the wheel wells being massaged and moved. Its impressive look was due to the 2008 Corvette frame it sat on, with a supercharged 6.2-liter ‘Vette engine under the hood, earning it the Imposter name.
The Impala was one of the eight finalists in the running for the Ridler, and the competition was fierce. The Imposter was an exceptionally clean build, and we can only hope that it will spend the next half of its life cruising the open road rather than collecting dust in a garage or being transported in a trailer.
